CETT-ELTE BUDAPEST B.Ed. Programme

AFN-SZD (ex AT-500) Thesis (15 credits)

The CETT-ELTE B.Ed. thesis records, documents and discusses an instance of classroom-based investigation conducted by the writer, normally during her B.Ed. Teaching Experience. In practice the trainee is expected to proceed systematically through a reflective cycle of the sort advocated by Donald Schön. Whatever the exact topic or research question, theses are typically divided into sections which represent the successive stages of the investigative process or cycle: Identification and Refinement of a Research Question, Background Reading, Research Design, Data Collection, Analysis and Evaluation of Data, Conclusion and Final Reflections. However, other models are available and have produced very successful theses.

Supervisors are normally appointed shortly after Teaching Experience begins. Thesis titles are usually submitted in mid-October. Completed theses are normally submitted at the end of March in the following semester. Grades and written judgements are issued not later than one month before the Final (Graduation) Exam.
