Note: Programme
Changes
The CETT-ELTE B.Ed was originally
designed as a single-major, fast track three-year programme. It was then re-modelled as a four-year programme which forms part of a
double major. The last intake of students for the original version
joined the programme in the Autumn of 2001; the first intake for the
new version joined in Autumn 2002. In terms of content, the two
versions of the programme are virtually identical. For a complete
list of all the study units required for the current programme, with
information about pre-requisites etc, you should consult the official
ELTE BTK credit list (Alapképzesi szakok kredites
tanegységlistai). For the official list of courses offered
in any particular term, with names of tutors, seminar times and
rooms, consult the current ELTE BTK prospectus of courses (Kurzus
kinálat).

THE MAIN COMPONENTS OF THE B.Ed.
The various courses, examinations
etc. which make up the B.Ed can be divided into four main strands:
English Philology (Linguistics and Literature),
Theoretical Pedagogy and Educational Psychology,
English Language Improvement and Professional
Training.
Courses in the first two strands are offered by
other departments of ELTE BTK; for further information about them
consult the relevant departmental publications and websites.
Courses
in the third and fourth strands are offered by CETT-ELTE;
descriptions of most of them are linked to this web-page.
This component of the B.Ed. consists of seminars, lectures and examinations which form part of the five-year MA in English Language and Literature and are offered by the English Linguistics Department (Angol Nyelvészeti Tanszék) and by the Department of English Studies (Anglisztika Tanszék) of the School of English and American Studies (Angol-Amerikai Intézet). For further information about these credits, you should consult the relevant university publications and departmental websites.
Theoretical Pedagogy and Educational Psychology
This component of the B.Ed. consists of credits which must be taken by all ELT:E-BTK undergraduates who want to qualify as teachers. The various seminars, lectures and examinations are offered by the BTK School of Education Studies (Neveléstudományi Intézet). For further information about these credits, you should consult the relevant university publications and departmental websites.
This component of the B.Ed. consists of a variety of courses which are specifically designed for students taking the CETT-ELTE B.Ed., although students from other programmes sometimes attend them. Most of these courses last for the whole academic year, but consist officially of two separate study-units taken in successive semesters. There are also two major language exams, known as the “Tests of Language Competence (TOLC) 1 and 2”, which are normally taken at the end of the first and second years of the programme.
Note: the course-codes listed here are valid for the new, four-year programme. The equivalent codes for the three-year programme are given in brackets.
